Meet Your Hudson Valley Wedding Planner: My Story, My Values & Why I Do This Work

Kristina of Forever After Events, a Hudson Valley wedding planner and designer serving New York and New Jersey.

Meet your planner and wedding bestie.

Here’s my story.

There are probably easier ways to become a Hudson Valley wedding planner than planning your own wedding during a global pandemic.

That just wasn't my way into the industry.

I was originally supposed to get married in 2020. Then COVID happened, and like so many couples during that time, the wedding we had planned suddenly wasn't the wedding we were going to have.

Our wedding moved to 2021. But it wasn't just one postponed wedding.

By the time I actually got married, I had essentially planned two weddings, three bachelorette parties, and two bridal showers.

Yes, my hands were in the bachelorette parties and the showers, too. I'm a planner and a bit of a control freak, okay?

There were changed dates, changed plans, and even a completely changed bachelorette location. I experienced firsthand how something you're incredibly excited about can also carry an enormous amount of mental and emotional weight.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I realized something important.

I still loved it.

How Planning My Own Wedding Changed Everything

If that experience didn't make me want to run in the opposite direction from weddings forever, I knew this was something deeper than simply enjoying a pretty tablescape.

Even after navigating all of the uncertainty and re-planning, I still loved bringing the pieces together. I loved thinking ahead. I loved creating an experience and watching an idea become something real.

Looking back, the signs had been there long before my own wedding.

I had always been the go-to girl among my friends and family when something needed to be planned. Give me an event, a reason to celebrate, and a million little details that need to come together, and I'm in my element.

Eventually, I realized I didn't just enjoy doing this for the people I loved.

I wanted to build a business around it.

What I Believe a Hudson Valley Wedding Planner Should Actually Do

Going through the planning process myself shaped the kind of planner I wanted to become.

I know what it feels like to be the person on the other side of the checklist.

That's why my approach is built around thoughtful planning, seamless structure, and a heart for personal detail.

You deserve to understand what's happening, what's coming next, and why we're making the decisions we're making. You shouldn't have to spend your engagement constantly wondering whether you've forgotten something.

Structure creates room to actually enjoy the experience.

But planning is only one part of what I care about.

Design and guest experience are at the heart of the weddings I create throughout the Hudson Valley, New York, and New Jersey.

For Me, Wedding Design Is Also Hospitality

When people hear "wedding design," it's easy to immediately think about flowers, linens, stationery, candles, color palettes, and all of the visual details.

I love those things.

But great design goes deeper than how a wedding photographs.

I believe hospitality is part of the décor.

A lot of that philosophy comes from my Italian heritage.

For me, gathering around a table has always meant something. Fresh food matters. Good drinks matter. Making sure everyone has enough matters. Homemade pasta, wine, olive oil..you name it, I'm there.

But underneath all of those things is something bigger: taking care of people.

My heritage is rooted in hospitality, family, and personalization, and those values naturally found their way into how I approach wedding design.

I don't think about a tablescape as simply a collection of pretty objects. I think about the people who will sit around that table. I think about what they'll eat, what they'll drink, how they'll interact, what they'll notice, and how the environment will make them feel.

The way guests move through a space matters. The way they're welcomed matters. What they see, feel, eat, hear, and experience throughout the celebration matters.

That's why I don't separate hospitality from design.

Hospitality is part of the design.

A beautiful wedding isn't successful simply because every detail looks good in a photograph. I want it to feel good to be there.

That's also why I design weddings for couples who are in love (not for Instagram).

Spoiler alert: They will also be beautiful and photo-worthy.

But Instagram isn't the guest of honor. Your relationship is.

And the people you've invited to gather around the table with you should walk away feeling like they experienced something that was made for you.

My Favorite Wedding Design Style: European Influence Meets Garden Romance

European-inspired Hudson Valley wedding design focused on thoughtful tablescapes, hospitality, and guest experience.

If you asked me what I could happily design over and over again, it would be a garden aesthetic, particularly a mix of heritage English garden romance, Italian warmth, and European influence.

I'm drawn to celebrations that feel layered, romantic, welcoming, and intentional rather than overly manufactured.

I love abundant florals that feel as though they could have been gathered from a garden. Beautiful textures. Thoughtful tablescapes. Old-world details. European-inspired accents. A table that makes you want to pull up a chair, pour another glass of wine, and stay awhile.

There is something about the European approach to gathering that continually inspires me; the idea that beauty doesn't have to feel precious or untouchable. It can be experienced.

The flowers are there to be enjoyed. The wine is there to be poured. The food is meant to be shared. The table is meant to be filled with conversation.

That's the feeling I love translating into weddings.

Of course, having a favorite aesthetic doesn't mean turning every couple's wedding into my personal mood board.

My job as your Hudson Valley wedding planner and designer is to understand what you are drawn to and translate that into an environment that feels cohesive, personal, and welcoming.

Your wedding shouldn't look like mine.

It should look and feel like you.

The Values Behind My Hudson Valley Wedding Planning & Design

There are four values at the center of the way I work:

Love

A wedding begins with love, and I never want the production of the event to become more important than the reason everyone gathered in the first place.

Joy

There should be joy in the process, not only at the finish line. Thoughtful planning and clear guidance make more space for you to experience it.

Commitment

I take seriously the trust involved in inviting someone into one of the biggest celebrations of your life. I'm committed to the details, the process, and helping bring your vision to life.

Excellence

Beautiful ideas need excellent execution. From the overall design down to the smallest logistical detail, I care about doing things thoughtfully and doing them well.

Together, those values influence every part of my planning and design process.

A Look Inside My Signature Wedding Planning Process

One of the things I care deeply about is making sure my couples know what comes next.

Wedding planning has a lot of moving pieces. You shouldn't have to hold every single one of them in your head.

My signature planning framework is designed to give you a clear path from our first conversation all the way to your wedding day so you can feel confident, cared for, and completely present throughout the experience.

That structure is something my couples notice, too. After her June wedding at the New York Botanical Garden, Stephanie shared that even with a relatively short planning timeline, she felt I was "organized, responsive, and dependable." She also said that by the time the wedding day arrived, she felt confident knowing I was there and already familiar with everything we'd discussed.

That's exactly what I want the process to create: confidence.

1. Consultation

We start by talking and making sure we're the right fit. This is where I begin getting to know you, your priorities, and what you're envisioning for the celebration.

2. Budget

Next comes the budget meeting and confirmation. A thoughtful design needs a thoughtful financial foundation, so we establish that structure before moving forward.

3. Design & Vibe

This is where we start bringing the wedding to life.

Florals. Food. Rentals. Paper. Décor. Layouts.

We look at these pieces together so your wedding feels cohesive rather than like a collection of unrelated pretty things.

And because I view hospitality as part of the design, we're not only asking, Does this look beautiful?

We're also asking, How will this feel for the people experiencing it?

4. Logistics

Then we turn the vision into a plan.

Vendor management, timeline creation, and event-flow meetings help make sure all those beautiful ideas can actually work seamlessly in the real world.

5. Final Details

As the wedding gets closer, we finalize guest counts, vendor meetings, payments, favors, welcome bags, and the remaining details.

6. Wedding Day

From ceremony rehearsal and setup through event coordination and teardown, the focus shifts from planning the wedding to actually experiencing it.

That's the purpose behind the process: not more meetings for the sake of meetings, but enough structure that you don't have to spend your wedding experience managing your own wedding.

The Kind of Weddings I Want to Create

My own experience as a bride taught me that planning can be exciting and overwhelming at exactly the same time.

I can't promise there will never be a decision to make or a moment when wedding planning feels like a lot. That's not realistic.

What I can do is bring structure to the process.

I can help you make thoughtful decisions. I can look at the entire experience (not only the individual details), and make sure the pieces work together. I can create a design that feels personal while considering how your guests will actually experience it.

Most importantly, I want to create the kind of support that allows you to stop managing and start experiencing.

Meghan described that feeling after her own wedding:

"Because of her, we were able to be fully present, enjoy every moment, and focus on celebrating with our family and friends."

That's it.

That's why all of the timelines, design conversations, vendor communication, details, and decisions matter.

They create space for you to be present.

And when your wedding day arrives, I want you to look around and recognize yourselves in it.

Not a trend.

Not somebody else's Pinterest board.

Not a wedding designed for Instagram.

Yours.
